The vibrant Lower School is now just over ten years old.  Its growing numbers now comprise roughly 25% of the College.  At the heart of the Lower School is the desire to succeed academically and to realise each student's academic potential at GCSE level. There is a positive atmosphere of industry and hard work which pervades the Lower School. Students want to succeed and they want to learn. Moreover, there is a real mix of nationalities, including many British day students as well as overseas boarders, which makes it a uniquely stimulating environment in which to learn and live.

Having just over 100 students in the Lower School in 2009, it retains its own cheerful, friendly and lively feel while remaining an integral part of the wider community.

Lower School students regularly play an active part in whole College sporting and cultural events and performances alongside the older students. Since students in the Lower School remain at the College for a longer period of time than our AS & A level students, they have even more opportunity to participate in activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and to make the most of the tremendous music and sporting facilities on offer. Indeed, in seven of the last eight years, the success of the Lower School can be seen in that either the Head Boy or Head Girl,if not both, have come up through the Lower School to become leaders and role models for our students in their final year at Concord.
